The 5-Dimensional Candidate
Evaluation Framework
A structured interview and evaluation rubric designed to uncover genuine capability, intellectual honesty, working character, and cultural resilience beneath the polished resume.
The Flaw in Traditional Resume Screening
Most hiring processes rely excessively on two lagging indicators: past company brand pedigree and resume bullet points. While a candidate's past titles confirm where they sat, they rarely predict how they will perform when confronted with ambiguity, organizational restructuring, or unscripted operational obstacles.
When interviews devolve into polite conversational recaps of a CV, hiring managers inadvertently select for interview charisma rather than operational craftsmanship. At Manpower Prime, we assess candidates across five distinct, interconnected dimensions.
"A resume tells you what someone has done. It doesn't tell you what they'll be like on a difficult Tuesday morning."
The Five Dimensions Explained
Demonstrated Functional Capability
Craftsmanship proven through concrete historical deliverables, architectural trade-offs, and problem-solving depth in real commercial environments.
Character & Candor
Intellectual humility, moral accountability during difficult quarters, generosity with collaborators, and the courage to voice uncomfortable truths.
Authentic Motivation
Self-awareness regarding what genuinely energizes them. Ensuring this career transition represents a proactive leap toward a meaningful challenge rather than an escape from frustration.
Contextual Environmental Fit
Matching individual working rhythm with your company's stage of maturity. Ensuring high-autonomy talent lands in high-autonomy environments.
Growth Trajectory & Resilience
Curiosity, adaptability, and cognitive bandwidth to expand their responsibilities as your enterprise doubles or triples in scale over the next three years.
How to Implement this Rubric in Your Team
To adopt this framework internally:
- Assign Dimensions to Interviewers: Prevent redundant generic interviews by assigning specific dimensions (e.g., Interviewer A evaluates Capability & Scale; Interviewer B evaluates Character & Candor).
- Conduct Independent Debriefs: Require all interviewers to submit written scoring notes before holding group debrief conversations to avoid anchoring bias.
- Weight Non-Negotiables: Establish that an exceptional score in Capability cannot override a failing score in Character or Contextual Fit.
